In the Steiner Academy Frome we recognise that parents are important partners in the education of the children. The teaching method facilitates a relation of trust and mutual understanding with your child's class teacher, regarding their development and the school's expectations of them.
Our school seeks to develop a strong sense of community where active involvement of parents is the norm. Parents will be able to engage with each other and the school through a balance of practical work and formal meetings and there will be many ways in which parents can help.
Parental involvement is also a priority because:
-
where children see their parents as part of the school, this models co-operation and is very beneficial to the child’s sense of belonging and understanding of social responsibility
-
It provides a route for parents to get involved in the community, and to meet other parents
-
it gives parents a sense of “ownership” of the school
-
tasks done by parents are tasks done with love and care, which contributes to the school’s special atmosphere.
